A downloadable game for Windows

What happens when Conway's Life meets Robotron: 2084?

This is the very, VERY early version of a game in progress. It's pronounced "crystaloid".

You're the blue block at the center. Use the arrows to move, use WASD to shoot. P to pause/unpause.

If you have a standard XBOX-style game pad connected, it'll detect and use that instead. Use the left analog stick to move, the right to fire; press START to pause/unpause.

Score points by picking up green things. Avoid other colors, as this will trash your shield. Lose your shields five times and you lose a life. (It's easier than you think to lose your shields!)

However, if you touch something green that's adjacent to other colors, you'll pick up those other colors and get bonus points. Plus, you'll repair your shields!

You can also get bonuses by picking up multiple green things in quick succession.

Once you have collected enough green things, an exit will open to the next level.

Shoot the enemies advancing towards you or moving through the game field. Some enemies, when shot, change the playing field.

For users with red/green colorblindness: Use the following command to launch the game with an alternate color palette:  xtaloid.exe . --cblind  (Note the dot; this is important)

A very cool implementation of a very cool original idea.

Guzzle up those green powerups while you can!
